Year 4 newsletter – Autumn Term 2019
Hello and welcome,
Our topic is Gadgets and Gizmos and we will be learning about electricity and living things.
In Maths we will be learning our times tables to 12 x12 so we are ready for our test in June.
We will also be learning how to add and subtract numbers to 1000 and beyond, including decimals
We will be learning how to add and subtract fractions.
In Literacy we will be learning how to write descriptive paragraphs using capital letters, full stops, commas, speech marks, exclamation marks and question marks.
We will be working on joining our handwriting neatly and correctly.
We will be learning how to spell all our year 3 and 4 words correctly.
In geography and history we will be learning about Birmingham and the Shang Dynasty. We will be also learning about famous scientists.
We will have a big focus on reading this term and our first book is the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We will also allocate books on Bug Club for pupils to read. There will be activities on spellzone for children to work on.
In year 4 we will be learning to play a musical instrument. The pupils met their music teachers this week.
In PE we will be learning gymnastics, dance and games. Please make sure you have your correct PE kit each week.
Homework is very important in year 4. We expect you all to complete your homework on time each week.
PE Days – Tuesday and Wednesday- please remember to bring your PE kit.
Forest School – Tuesday
Homework – will go out on Friday and due back the following Wednesday.
