Paths Seals Nurture
Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS)
All KS1 children take part in weekly PATHS lessons which are designed to facilitate the development of self-control, self-esteem, peer relationships, emotional awareness and interpersonal problem-solving skills. The purpose of the PATHS programme is to enable our children to have a set of skills, which help them to become confident children who understand their emotions, the emotions of others and the affect they have on their peers.
Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL)
All KS2 children participate in weekly SEAL lessons which develops the underpinning qualities and skills that help promote positive behaviour and effective learning. The SEAL curriculum focuses on five social and emotional aspects of learning: self-awareness, managing feelings, motivation, empathy and social skills. This helps all pupils to be confident, competent and well-balanced individuals who are positive, motivated global citizens who value learning and achieve well.
Nurture groups of between 6 – 8 children take place in ‘The Den’. This Nurture room is designed to be a bridge between home and school and therefore a space where children can feel safe and secure. This will then support the children to develop their individual needs further. The purpose of nurture groups are to revisit learning and social skills to support our children’s social and emotional development further.
