Curriculum Aims


At Greenholm School we aim to give all of our children a broad and balanced curriculum. We currently follow the national curriculum to form the basis of our whole school curriculum.

The curriculum is planned and designed to develop children’s skills progressively across the different subject areas through a thematic approach. The ‘Greenholm Achievers learning Tools’ and PSME are at the heart of the curriculum and through the way in which these are taught and developed, they support the children in becoming independent lifelong learners. The curriculum is designed to be able to be personalised and respond to different learners needs so they are motivated, inspired and excited and therefore fully engaged in their learning.

Cross curricular themes are sought to draw subjects together and children’s learning will often interweave a number of areas.

Reception classes follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework focusing on the seven areas of learning and development. These include: Communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design.
